If you’re looking for a place to unwind and reconnect with nature, then this abode in the Belgian countryside is just the ticket. Situated in a pedestrianised holiday park, mornings are quiet and relaxed. Start the day with a light breakfast on the terrace before finishing the last of your coffee in the comfy living space – we loved the neutral tones, soft leather sofa and abundance of timber.  

When you’re ready to explore, hire a couple of mountain bikes and cycle through the surrounding woodland or take the short drive over to the Bosland Nature Reserve for a leisurely stroll and a picnic in the sunshine. If a day trip sounds like a good idea, we recommend heading south to Hasselt for its tranquil Japanese garden and Jenever museum – be sure to pick up a bottle of the tipple on your way out.

A Place in Time

Nestled in the heart of Ghent, this home caught our eye with its romantic living area and the stunning dome above the staircase. The fireplace beckons you on colder evenings and creates a romantic atmosphere –  perfect for trying Belgian beer. Having the kitchen in the open-plan living space may dissuade you from experimenting with anything pungent, but at least you can keep the designated cook company as they prepare dinner. From your doorstep, you're just a short stroll from historic sites, restaurants and bars, while the River Leie is only five minutes away.

The Artistic

If you're looking for a mesmerising lake view, this apartment will be tough to beat. Situated right on De Spuikom, this retreat offers stunning architectural features and open spaces that allow the line between the outside and inside to feel blurred. Showcasing minimalism at its best, this home is designed to let its exterior landscape shine – and with two balconies, guests will be able to soak up the waterfront panoramas at every moment. 

Expansive windows allow the light to flood the airy living space – ideal for spending mornings at the sleek dining table with pain perdu and coffee. Perfectly satiated, head out for a walk along the scenic paths in Maria Henrika Park or wade the waters off Ostend Beach and spend the afternoon on its golden sands. There are plenty of cycling paths here if you’re looking to explore by bike. For lunch, enjoy a bowl of mussels and crusty bread at one of the waterfront restaurants off of Klein Strand, a short drive away. Head home in the evenings to catch the sunset from your balcony, watching the sun dip behind the horizon with a glass of local wine.

Minimalism on the Lake

Stylish designs present earthy hues and the occasional "moo" from the local wildlife surrounding this gorgeous property in Dalhem. Think caramel-coloured couches, a luxurious cowhide rug and contrasting slate grey industrial-style walls. The best design feature of all, however, is the floor-to-ceiling windows inviting an abundance of natural daylight throughout the space. 

When the weather is kind, spend sunny afternoons in the grassy garden overlooking endless green views of the surrounding farmland and fields. Why not fire up the barbecue for a delicious feast at home? With the town centre of Dalhem only 200 metres away, you won't have to stroll far to pick up some groceries and on days when you feel like dining out – take a short drive in the car around 3 kilometres to the nearest restaurant options. 





Grazing Cows 

Put simply, this home in the middle of the Belgian countryside is huge. Yet despite this impressive size, it still manages to feel rather homely.

Inside, there's a whole host of spaces in which to gather everybody together, from the bright dining room and games room to the living area complete with an upright piano and the modern kitchen full of sleek black surfaces. We're also fans of the circular tub in one of the bathrooms that is sure to be a relaxing spot at the end of a productive day.

When the weather's pleasant, there's a lovely garden with a lawn, barbecue and plenty of seating for enjoying bursts of sunshine. If that sounds a little too sedate, however, there's a famed cycling route network running throughout the local area and both the towns of Hasselt and Sint-Truiden can be reached in just over a quarter of an hour's drive, too.

A Bicycle Made For Two

This stunning home looks like something out of a fairytale. With plenty of space for groups of up to 22 people, and a fabulous selection of amenities, you can live the high life in a spectacular setting. 

You'll be enchanted by this mansion house at first glance, thanks to its gable roof and pretty windows. The interior is handsome, with high ceilings, velvet sofas, and marble flooring that will make you feel like a prince or princess. There's plenty of space both inside and out for lavish feasts together, served at a long dining table. And, there's also a real focus on relaxation here – sink into the hot tub, sweat out your stresses in the sauna, or catch some rays on a lounger while the kids have fun in the garden. 

From here, you can pop over to Eifel National Park, near the border with Germany, for a hike or a cycle through the pretty landscapes. The town of Spa is also close by, where you can immerse yourself in the wellness culture and mineral-rich waters. And, if you fancy a day trip, you can take a drive over to visit the city of Liege, with its rich medieval history. 

Belgian Chocolate Box

Bright, white and minimalist, this home on Belgium's coast is a smart choice for families and friends. Mornings start with freshly baked pastries and coffee on the upstairs balcony – and end there with glasses of wine as the sun sets. The large living area has got group dinners written all over it, thanks to the white dining table and rattan chairs, and a more beachy vibe from the woven pendants. Once you're done, curl on the corner sofa and make plans for the coming days. It's only a five-minute walk to the long stretch of Bredene Strand, with the Black Sea to cool off in, while the cultural city of Ostend is a 15-minute drive. Need some peace and quiet? There's a deep tub in the bathroom for soaking away any worries or curl up with a book underneath the skylights in the master bedroom.

Just steps from the beach, this modern apartment is the perfect choice for a seaside escape. Contemporary design abounds inside this three-bedroom home, but we think it's the location that really sets it apart. Jump on the tram and you'll be exploring the Belle Époque resort of De Haan in no time at all. Grab lunch in a seafront restaurant or just wander the seafront promenade, admiring the historic architecture. On lazier days, unwind on your apartment's balcony with a coffee - as it's southwest facing, you'll catch the sun most of the day. When you're not trying some local seafood or dipping frites in mayonnaise, rustle up a meal at home in the well-equipped kitchen. With a car, you can also check out your country surroundings, with the beautiful city of Bruges is only 30 minutes away. For more local jaunts,there's also storage space for bikes in your apartment building, so you'll have plenty of opportunity for exploring. 

Beside the Sea

Only a thirty-five-minute drive from the hustle and bustle in Bruges lies the quiet, sprawling shores of Bredene Strand. Flanked on one side by lofty sand dunes and the other by the refreshing waters of the North Sea, this stretch of Belgium's coast is as relaxing as it sounds. 

You'll find this light-filled pad just a five-minute stroll from the beach. You're so close to the water, in fact, you can glimpse the rolling waves from the enormous windows – the perfect backdrop for pastries and coffee in the morning and cocktails come sunset. Out on the balcony, soak up the evening rays and bask in the invigorating salty air with a glass of Belgian white wine.

Understated and sleek, the pared-back design is all about crisp whites and Scandinavian simplicity. Sprawl out on the open-plan living area's orange leather sofas or gather around the dining table for a dinnertime soirée, feasting on mules-frites (steamed muscles and fries) or Flemish shrimp croquettes. 

Don't fancy cooking? There's a bevvy of restaurants practically on your doorstep, with even more choice to whet your appetite in Ostend, a thirteen-minute drive away. 

Drift Away

Steps from the beach, everything about this sunny apartment in the quaint seaside town of De Haan feels calm and peaceful – from the grey and white colour scheme to the salty air wafting through the windows. The pops of mustard yellow on the chair and throw pillows, the funky tropical pattern on the ottomans and the striped wallpaper in the bedrooms add a touch of playfulness that we can’t help but love. When you're ready to hit the beach, it couldn't be easier – just grab a towel, walk three minutes and you're there. If you're feeling peckish, there's an array of restaurants, cafes and bars on the promenade to discover, or simply nip back home to rustle up a quick lunch in the shiny kitchen. For a change of scenery, we recommend making the thirty-minute drive to Bruges, a fairytale town known for its cobbled streets, medieval architecture and picturesque canals. 

Faded Seas

Stepping inside this charming home feels a little like stepping into the pages of a children’s book. The stone walls, wooden beams and forest views give it the feeling of a fairy tale cottage – and every chair, bed, and detail is just right. Goldilocks would love it. 

The cottage is in the Belgian Ardennes, a three-minute drive from Lierneux. It’s tucked away, a quiet home where you can relax and unwind, and make happy memories. Children are likely to fall in love with the play area outside, while grown-ups will appreciate the deep bathtub and the covered terrace – the perfect spot for alfresco dinners. 

It’s a great choice for nature lovers, as you can head out on countryside walks straight from the front door. When you’re not exploring the forest and trails on foot, you might drive out to discover more of this scenic area. La Roche-en-Ardenne is a particularly pretty village and is well worth the twenty-seven-minute drive. 

Rainy days can be merrily whiled away in front of the wood-burning stove. Curl up in the cosy living room with a good book, and just feel your stresses float away.
