This marvellous barn conversion ticks all the boxes for a fantastic stay in Devon. With plenty of room, lots of style, and a wonderful location in Dartmoor National Park, you're guaranteed to have a great time here. 

The high vaulted ceilings and wooden beams remind you of the building's former use, while the clean colour palette brings it firmly into the 21st century. You'll love lighting the wood burner and getting cosy on the sofa with a glass of wine on winter evenings. Or, if the sun is shining, head outside onto the patio for an alfresco feast hot off the charcoal barbeque. And, there's even a games room where you can finish off the evening with a round of snooker. 

Hikers and cyclists will be in their element, with all of the sprawling Dartmoor National Park to explore. History fans can visit the nearby Castle Drogo and the iron age forts and stone circles scattered across the moorland. And, if you're missing the hustle and bustle, you can drive into Exeter, the ancient city on the River Exe, in around half an hour. 

Dandelion Clock

Did somebody say beach? Few places can boast of having direct access to one of Devon's finest beaches, but from this home, you can step out of the door, through the shared garden and onto the footpath down to Saunton Sands. A garden-level apartment in a freshly converted building, it's got space, style and knockout sea views. Perfect for a family or a group of friends getting away to the coast, it's both contemporary and comfortable. 

Inside, the enormous open-plan living space is the star of the show, with a vast lounge area, dining space and a well kitted-out kitchen. Fling open the sets of doors and just breathe in that sea air. We particularly love the covered terrace, with cosy outdoor sofas so you can sip your drinks and admire the view. The master bedroom comes with an in-room freestanding bathtub and the luxurious shower room is decked out in marble, with a fabulous rainfall shower.

By day, splash and play on the beach (don't forget your surfboards – there's a place to store them here) or head to nearby Croyde and Woolacombe. Walk the sand dunes of Braunton Burrows or play a round at Saunton Golf Club, and in the evening enjoy meals together at the big dining table. It's even dog-friendly there's so no need to leave out your four-legged family members here.   

A Crescent of Gold

You'll find this stylish apartment right on the banks of Saunton Sands. If surfing, swimming and sunbathing are on your holiday to-do list, you can't do much better than this beachfront setting – and with the South West Coastal Path on your doorstep and Saunton Golf Club a short drive away, walkers and golfers will have plenty to keep them busy, too. 

The views alone are worth staying for. Morning, noon or night, the best place to soak up the scenery is on the shared balcony – the perfect spot to savour a coffee in the sunshine or cocktails as the sun goes down. Even inside, thanks to the dual aspect, you can feast your eyes on the ocean no matter what you get up to, be it lounging on the sofa, sharing a meal around the dining table or soaking in the main bedroom's sumptuous rolltop bath. 

Besides the panoramas, we love how incredibly bright and roomy this place is. The aesthetic is sleek and minimal, but it works – the big windows drench every room in light, while the open-plan layout is ideal for socialising. Home chefs can let their culinary skills run wild in the kitchen, while surfers will love having wetsuit and board storage plus an outdoor shower on-site. And all the mod-cons are accounted for – including a rainfall shower, underfloor heating and a wine fridge – so you'll have everything you need for a coastal getaway.

Seaside Serenity

This apartment lies on the shores of Salcombe's South Sands beach, with lovely views from the private balcony. Both bedrooms enjoy their own en-suites and the kitchen is fully equipped for preparing family meals or romantic dinners. Head to the hotel next door for the heated indoor pool and spa facilities - just ask your host to organise passes. To top it all off your host can help arrange a cooked breakfast and concierge services for an additional fee.

Soothing Sea Air

Perched on the shores of Saunton Sands, this luxurious apartment is an absolute winner if seaside adventures are on your holiday to-do list. Here, days start and end on the balcony, watching the ebb and flow of the tide and breathing in the refreshing salty air. Whether you're sipping your morning coffee or sharing a bottle of wine at sundown, it'll be hard to find a better spot to recharge and relax – or better views.

Even inside, the expansive windows allow you to take in the scenery, and the breezy layout makes socialising a dream. We love the kitchen, in particular – glossy and sleek, it comes stocked with culinary gear home chefs will need, be it a wine fridge or Nespresso machine. Plus, this apartment has all the bells and whistles you could ask for – including a sleek rainfall shower, toasty underfloor heating and a lavish rolltop bath in the main suite. Add in the on-site surfboard and wetsuit storage, communal outdoor shower and private parking, and it's no wonder we're head over heels.

And the location? Pretty hard to beat. Saunton Sands beach is mere steps from your door, as is the South West Coastal Path for morning treks along the seaside. Golfers can practice their swing at Saunton Golf Club, while the pubs and shops in Braunton are just a five-minute drive away. 

Calm & Free

An exquisite apartment overlooking Saunton Sands for that spectacular panorama where you can hear the soothing waves cascading against the coast, and what's even better is that the building has its own landscaped gardens with direct access down to the beach. This opulent and minimalist apartment caters to all of your desires, from temperature-controlled wine fridges for that evening glass of wine on the balcony to ultra-soft mattresses with a bathtub in the main bedroom to conclude the evening in comfort.

The setting itself is memorable, with a plethora of nearby activities. Go with the flow of the waves and learn to surf down at Saunton Sands, you may even be able to arrange a session with the champion herself, Sarah Whiteley, and her crew at Walking on the Waves. Gallop across Croyde beach with horses from Royston Stables, or you may wish to plan a quieter pony trip for the kids. Visit Lundy Island by boat to see seals, ponies, prison caves, sea cliffs, and (from March to August) puffins. The list goes on and on, so go down to Saunton Sands and see yourself.

Sandy Views

A modern take on the Devon holiday cottage, Green Finger Lodge is surrounded by the picturesque woodlands of the Teign Valley. There are some fantastic walks in the area – a particular favourite takes you through the woods to the local pub. Whether you're after a moment of peace or want to get the group together for an alfresco meal, the long wraparound terrace is a perfect setting to relax with a drink and admire the views and spot some wildlife. There’s also a badminton set (as sell as a games room for when the weather isn’t cooperating). Step inside and instantly feel at ease with the minimalist, modern interiors or retire to one of three bedrooms with generous super king-size beds and an en-suite bathroom each. It would suit a family of five or six, and being on a single level it's practical for those travelling with toddlers, grandparents or even furry friends, so bring them all!

Green Finger Lodge

This light-filled penthouse on the shores of Saunton Sands is a spectacular home in North Devon. Just as suited to nature-lovers as those seeking creature comforts, this crisp and modern apartment makes for a wonderful base.

A direct path leads from the property to the three-mile-long Saunton Sands, one of Devon’s most beloved beaches. Here you can swim or surf – the water is slightly calmer than nearby Croyde Bay, making it ideal for beginner or intermediate surfers. If you prefer to keep your feet dry, it’s a glorious part of the world for walking and horse riding – it’s at the heart of the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, after all. 
Braunton Burrows – a sand dune system and Biosphere reserve – is just a few minutes away from Saunton Sands. Home to a large number of rare plants and animals, it’s popular with wildlife enthusiasts. 

Back at the penthouse, take a soak in the roll-top tub then fire up the wood burner and get cosy. The views are captivating from every angle – we spent hours gazing out at the sea and sands – and sunset is an event in of itself. Curl up in a blanket on the balcony and drink in the views while tucking into a Devonshire cream tea. We’ll let you decide whether it’s the jam or cream first. 


A Penthouse on the Shore

Picture waking up to the sound of rolling waves each morning, whiling away afternoons on the beach just steps from your door and ending the evenings with cocktails on the terrace as the sun dips below the sea. Sounds dreamy, right? Well, that's a day in the life at this contemporary coastal apartment, right on the banks of Saunton Sands. 

With incredible ocean views, direct footpath access to the sandy beach and a shared terrace where you can soak it all in, this sleek apartment is the pinnacle of shoreside living. Effortlessly chic, the minimalist living space is decorated in calm greys and crisp whites. Not only is it a soothing space to retreat to after a day in the sun, but it's super roomy and drenched in light from the floor-to-ceiling windows. Home cooks will have everything they need to rustle up family dinners in the glossy kitchen, but our favourite room is the elegant main bedroom, which has a lavish freestanding bathtub perfect for relaxing.

Surfers will love catching waves on Saunton Sands – there's even wetsuit and surfboard storage as well as an outdoor shower on-site. Keen walkers can trek the South West Coastal Path – it runs directly past the apartment – while golfers can hit the links at Saunton Golf Club. For pubs and restaurants, head inland to Braunton (five minutes by car), or for a change of scenery, make the fifteen-minute drive to Woolacombe.

Sands On the Horizon

You'll find this home in a residential area of Exeter, just a short walk from the River Exe and twenty minutes’ walk from the centre of town. There’s parking for one on the drive, though you’ll also find a bus stop just 200m away, too. Modern in style, it's a practical base for friends and families. The second bedroom offers a pull-out bed, so you can enjoy flexible sleeping arrangements, and the dining table doubles up as a laptop-friendly workspace. And while British weather isn’t always sunshine and rainbows, there’s a garden for enjoying those warmer days when they come around.

Exe River Blue

Quaint seaside life is on your doorstep at this Topsham home set just a thirty-second walk from the River Exe estuary. A great choice for a family stay in Devon, Topsham’s charming cluster of traditional inns, Tudor cottages and bustling shops are a stroll away. Back home, while we can’t fault the elegant interiors, the patio area screened off from the communal parking yard is a little quirky and doesn't feel overly private. But it’s still a nice spot for morning coffees and evening sundowners and catches the sun throughout the day.

The Sea and the Country

Boasting sea views out towards Shaldon and across the Teign estuary, this apartment is an ideal base for a coastal retreat. Situated next to the West Coast railway, you’ll hear some train noise throughout the day – that said, the balcony’s a great spot for watching the steam trains that pass through during spring and summer. There’s an on-site fitness room for those keen to keep up with their exercise routine, but for us, this home’s all about the location. With Back beach less than five minutes away on foot and Teignmouth's vibrant bars and eateries within easy reach, you’re well-placed to enjoy all that this stretch of Devon has to offer.
